CONy 2024 | Fueling dementia policy change on an international level

Paola Barbarino, MA, CEO, Alzheimer’s Disease International discusses the missed targets of the WHO Global Dementia Action Plan and the launch of a campaign to address this issue. Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI) engaged governments to help them realistically implement dementia care initiatives, especially in low-income countries. The campaign had two phases: the first involved diplomatic efforts with 45 nations, and the second used media to raise public awareness in countries that did not respond. Ms Barbarino emphasizes that the renewed focus should be on updating the Global Dementia Action Plan for the future. This interview took place at the 18th Annual Congress on Controversies in Neurology (CONy 2024) in London, UK.
