EAN 2017 | Predictors of cognitive decline in chronic kidney disease patients

Janine Gronewold, PhD from the University Hospital Essen, Essen, Germany discusses the data on the cognitive performance of patients with chronic kidney disease presented at the 2017 Congress of the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Dr Gronewold explains that cognition stayed stable during the two years, and predictors for worse cognitive performance were higher age, higher blood glucose and fibrinogen levels. Further, beta-amyloid in plasma also predicted cognitive decline in these patients. She further outlines the next steps for the research.
