Alexandra König, PhD, ki:elements, Saarbrücken, Germany, discusses a study that investigated the effectiveness of an automated speech tool in screening for cognitive impairment in four European cohorts. Features of speech were extracted from a phone call to produce a composite score to distinguish healthy from cognitively impaired individuals. Dr König believes that this technology has the potential to be used in clinical trials for pre-screening and in primary care settings, to aid in early diagnosis and guiding treatment. This interview took place at the 17th Clinical Trials on Alzheimer’s Disease (CTAD) congress in Madrid, Spain.
