ARUK 2021 | The development of oligomer-specific antibodies and their potential use as a diagnostic tool

Francesco Antonio Aprile, PhD, Imperial College London, London, UK, explains the research on the development of oligomer-specific antibodies using computational and laboratory analysis, presented at the Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) Conference 2021. The research goes from computational design of single-domain antibodies to their production and analysis in vitro. The antibodies are tested for their ability to identify specific regions of the amyloid beta peptide, such as the ones that are crucial for the generation of toxic oligomers. The potential development of diagnostic tools is also discussed.
