CONy 2024 | Digital frailty screening in dementia

Dorota Religa, MD, PhD, Karolinska Institutet, Solna, Sweden, considers the potential of automated frailty assessment tools in dementia. The challenge lies in the limited clinical resources available for a large patient population, creating a need to explore alternative methods of care. One promising avenue is digitalization, particularly digital testing for diangoses and follow-ups. This approach could significantly reduce the workload for clinic staff.
For example, clinics are already using the frailty index extensively, and automating this process could free up valuable time for other tasks amidst a wealth of digital data. It’s crucial for these advancements to transition from research settings to practical implementation in clinics for real-world impact. This interview took place at the 18th Annual Congress on Controversies in Neurology (CONy 2024) in London, UK.
