Oscar López, MD, FAAN, University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA, discusses how imaging techniques, such as MRI and PET scans, can be used to identify predictive factors of progression from mild cognitive impairment (MCI) to dementia. These factors include atrophy of the brain, the presence of amyloid protein in the brain, and cardiovascular disease.
