AAIC 2023 | Relationship between retinal and cortical tau pathology

Frederique J. Hart de Ruyter, MD, from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Amsterdam UMC, Netherlands, discusses the correlation between retinal phosphorylated tau (pTau) concentration and pTau pathology found in brain tissue. Immunohistochemical analysis of pTau in the retina found a positive correlation with pTau found cortical regions of the brain, including the hippocampus, in patients with Alzheimer’s disease. Recorded at the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference (AAIC)® 2023 held in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
