Giulia Giacomucci, MD, University of Florence, Florence, Italy, discusses recent research into empathy deficits in patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) who had positive amyloid biomarkers, or Alzheimer’s disease, which found pathologic involvement of the specific brain areas involved in empathy. Dr Giacomucci discusses the implications of these findings and the possible future directions of this research. This interview took place at the American Academy of Neurology 2022 Congress in Seattle, WA.
