ARUK 2018 | MODEM: modeling the number of dementia cases to improve future care

The number of people living with dementia in a population at any given time affects the amount of resources and care needed; thus, accurately predicting this number is of great utility. In this interview, Martin Knapp from the London School of Economics, London, UK, discusses the Modelling the Outcome and Cost Impacts of Interventions for Dementia (MODEM) project, which among its comprehensive body of work is projecting the number of patients with dementia in England up to 2040, as well as the comorbidities that they are likely to have. Prof. Knapp highlights the importance of this modeling to understand, predict and prepare for the care that people with dementia will need. This video was recorded at the Alzheimer’s Research UK Policy Conference 2018, held in London, UK.
