Our knowledge of the underlying biology of Alzheimer’s disease is steadily advancing, with a number of new insights recently. In this exciting interview, Tara Spires-Jones, BA, BSc, MSc, PhD, of the University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, UK, discusses her group’s work on synaptic degeneration in Alzheimer’s disease, which has uncovered interesting results implicating APOE4 and clusterin. Prof. Spires-Jones highlights the potential impact of these results and the next steps for this field of research.
