AAIC 2020 | Can we predict the onset of Alzheimer’s disease using blood tests?

Suzanne Schindler, MD, PhD, Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine, St. Louis, MO, talks about p-tau isoforms and plasma amyloid-β 42/40 ratio as biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease. They can both indicate disease before symptom presentation. However, more research needs to be done on how early p-tau isoforms can predict Alzheimer’s disease. Moreover, more studies on the combination of these biomarkers need to be done as it could add diagnostic value. This interview was recorded during an online conference with The Video Journal of Dementia (VJDementia).
